Although this video clip involves defence with a gun it has some very important lessons and is relevant for a non-weapon threat environments:
- Being aware of your surroundings at all times and the threats
- Don't get blocked, have an escape route
- React quickly to resolve a conflict before it starts i.e get the hell out of there
- If physical threat is absolutely about to happen react with shock and awe
- When the threat is over and you have used approriate defensive force don't keep going as you will be breaking the law!

Well done to all the ladies who completed the latest Women's only self-defence class last night. Great effort, such improved risk awareness, conflict resolution skills and confidence coupled with greater aggression and technical skills and abilities if you are unfortunate enough to have to react. Just think where you are today from where you were on day one, excellent group, I enjoyed working with you!
Also a big thank you to the Warwick-TKD men that turned up last night to assist and make the drills more realistic and a 'real life' experience for the ladies, great team effort.
After running a survey to understand why students join our clubs and why they stay the results were interesting. As martial arts instructors we think that its all about feeling more confident and learning to defend yourself, but this in many instances is not the case or is not the whole picture. It fills me with confidence in the club and instructors that we are also delivering enjoyable classes that assist with fitness and provide a social element, a sense of belonging and a team spirit with many family groups in the clubs.
This video shows you how to perform a Low Block using the Outer Forearm and the Knife-Hand. Yesterday saw the first Central region coloured belt grading for 2017. We had a number of students in the grading all nervous and aprehensive at the start, all good emotions as it shows you care and drives your performance.
Well done all of you, as Mr Archer chief examiner said, the standards were excellent; as I said last week, go and make yourself, the instructors and the club proud, and you all did this, fabulous.
Results and belts will be given at class this week as well as teaching all successful students their new patterns.
Well done all that attended yesterdays Central Region Fight club, great energy, great spirit, great commitment. The improvements that you are all making are excellent, there is a real shift in sparring technique and style. Here are a few pictures from the session, thank you Jamie Crump.
This video is the 4th in a series of lessons where GM Nardizzi shows you ways of learning and developing each Taekwon-Do technique. This video shows you how to perform a Outer Forearm High Block. What a fantastic morning spent teaching such an enthusiastic group of people hand to hand combat and self-defence skills and knife defence skills. Sorry we didn't get time to do ground defence skills but there's only so much you can fit into 2 hours!! next time though :) Thank you as always to Mr Feely for assisting and having the envious job of crash test dummy!
