Yesterday we ran a women's only self-defence course at Woodloes School in Warwick. We welcomed 11 dedicated women eager to acquire skills and knowledge that will empower them in their daily lives.

Our day began with a comprehensive presentation on safety awareness in daily life. This crucial first step provided attendees with an understanding of personal safety habits that can significantly reduce the risk of being targeted. The emphasis was not just on physical techniques but also on cultivating a mindset of safety.

Key Areas Covered:

  1. Situational Awareness: We cover awareness of your surroundings and recognise potential threats before they escalate.

  2. Understanding the Violent Mind: Participants learned about the psychology behind aggression, helping them to better understand and anticipate aggressive behaviours.

  3. Handling Aggression: Techniques to de-escalate confrontational situations were discussed, equipping attendees with crucial tools for real-world scenarios.

  4. Identifying Risk Situations and their Avoidance: We covered practical strategies for avoiding dangerous situations whenever possible, emphasising the importance of prevention.

  5. Physical Self-Defence Techniques: Participants were introduced to a range of easy-to-remember, intuitive, and highly effective self-defence techniques. This included:

    • Effective striking techniques

    • Kicking

    • Release from grabs
