Outstanding Christmas Grading

This weekend saw the last coloured belt grading for the year held in Stratford under Master John Archer President of the T-UK Association.

The Warwick TKD students have been preparing hard for this grading ramping up the intensity at training leading up to it. This hard work and dedication showed in their performance with outstanding performances across the board.

Two members which i would like to highlight for their A passes are:

  • Kajetan Boniewski - promoted to Blue belt

  • Thea Roberts - promoted to Green belt

Also a big thank you to all the Instructors at the club who have also put their all into preparing the club for this grading.

End of an Era

Tonight saw our final Friday night club training session held at Warwick Space which has housed our Friday night classes for the last 5 years, a great community centre hall with an accommodating and a supportive management committee. Quite a sad night as I closed up tonight at the end of the class as we have been using it for so long and built up a great class of students in it.

So thank you Warwick Space, but great excitement as we move the class to the same venue as our Tuesday night classes at St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre run by Everyone Active cementing our relationship further with them at the Warwick prime location with plenty of free parking and much more space to train in.

Warwick TKD Furthers its Partnership with Everyone Active

Due to the fabulous growth of the Warwick TKD Friday night classes it has been necessary to look for a new bigger venue. After meetings with St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre management, where we hold our Tuesday night classes, we have come to an agreement for us to move our Friday night class here as well in to the main sports hall. The class will run from 7-8pm with the first class at this venue being on the 22nd November.

This further cements the excellent relationship and partnership that we have with Everyone Active leisure centre management company with both the T-UK clubs of Warwick and Stratford running all their primary club class nights in their facilities putting us in the heart of our communities premium health and fitness venues.

Another T-UK British Championships is done and dusted with some excellent results from the awesome Warwick students. For a number of the students this was their first competition so some anxious white and yellow tag competitors, but a big step forward on their journey for personal growth and development as well as some silverware to take home. All other students also passed with all of them raising their game for the grading and demonstrating the high standards that we expect from our students at the club. Well done all you have made the instructor team very proud.

Warwick TKD Annual BBQ

This weekend saw the annual club BBQ. The weather report for the day wasn’t too promising however it stayed warm and dry for the majority of it. A great day with over 30 of our members turning up to relax, have a drink and eat some charred food cooked by my very own hand (not exactly up to Jason Wrights standards, T-UK Stratford, but I did my best :) ).

Warwick TKD Student in Nijmegen Walk

The 103rd International Four Day Nijmegen March is being held this weekend.  This is the largest multiple day marching event in the world. It is organised every year in Nijmegen Holland as a means of promoting sport and exercise.

Participants walk 30, 40 or 50 kilometers daily depending on their age and gender, and, on completion, receive a royally approved medal the Vierdaagsekruis. The participants are mostly civilians, but there are also a few thousand military participants. Amongst these will be our very own Warwick TKD student Alex Darlow who recently graded getting an A pass and will be doing the 50Km a day course.  Good luck Alex I hope you have your Compeed plasters!!!

Fight Club Goes to North Leamington Club

Tonight we took fight club on the road to North Leamington TKD club. Some students might find the thought of Fight Club intimidating, the aim of this session was to show that there’s nothing to be worried about.

After a thorough warm up and dynamic stretching session we went on to utilising games to practice and rehearse skills and attributes needed for ring craft and fitness. This was followed by learning and practicing the basic foundation set up techniques of sparring, front leg kicking techniques and then we explored technique options to keep momentum going to win points.
