In today’s society, personal safety is more important than ever. Recent tragic events, such as the Sarah Everard case, the Huntingdon train robbery, and the Bull Ring stabbing, highlight the urgent need for women to empower themselves through self-defence training. We are offering a Women’s Only Self-Defence Course designed to equip women with essential skills for self-protection and confidence.
Why Self-Defence Matters
Every day, women face situations that require awareness, confidence, and readiness to act. Many people may respond to high-profile incidents with immediate inquiries about self-defence courses, but unfortunately, this interest often doesn’t translate into actual participation. This lack of prioritisation is concerning. Self-defence is not just a skill, it's a vital life skill that can help you navigate an uncertain world.
Our upcoming course on 7th December delivers practical and effective training in a supportive environment. You’ll learn essential techniques tailored for real-world situations and instil a mindset that promotes awareness and safety.
What an incredible weekend we had at the Taekwon-Do UK British Championships in Coventry. I am thrilled to share that our club achieved remarkable success, finishing as the second overall club in the entire competition. This is a tremendous accomplishment that reflects the hard work and dedication of our members.
We brought home an impressive 15 gold, 24 silver, and 7 bronze medals. Each medal represents not just talent, but countless hours of training, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. A special shoutout goes to Serena Todd, who ranked in the top 10 individuals and secured 2 gold medals, an outstanding achievement.
This past weekend, our dedicated team from Warwick & Leamington TKD made us incredibly proud at the T-UK English Championships held in Manchester. For some of our competitors, this was their first experience in a tournament setting, and they truly rose to the challenge.
Our classes are a combination of traditional Martial arts and effective reality based self-defence (Combatives).
A great last class before the break where we concentrated on combatives techniques from a personal and intimate distance and effective striking skills as well as side kicks to collapse the hip to gain an advantage over our opponent.
Well done to all our members who attended the England ITF Grandmaster seminar hosted by the T-UK in Stratford Upon Avon, great support and enthusiasm from the club as always.
The seminar was led by Grandmasters Ellis and Nardizzi. The seminar was broken down in to two halves coloured belts followed by a black belt only seminar. Each seminar consisted of a technical deep dive into all aspects of TKD.
When it comes to personal safety, the difference between vulnerability and security often lies in your ability to recognise threats early and respond effectively. By combining strategic frameworks like the OODA Loop, Cooper’s Colour Code, and Concentric Rings of Disturbance, you can cultivate a dynamic and layered approach to self-defence.
We entered 38 members into the recent Summer T-UK coloured belt grading. Everyone who was entered worked hard to attained the high standards required to be considered for promotion. As always the day was split into peewee and junior grading and adult grading.
2023 saw a very successful year for our clubs, new promotions to black belt, exceptional A pass results from each of the coloured belt area gradings, multiple world champions from the T-UK British Championships.
This made choosing the adult and junior students of the year very difficult.
In the end the Instructor team landed on the most deserving members. The criteria for the award is predicated on attendance, effort, attitude, overcoming challenges, taking on instruction and applying it, being a role model.
We would like to congratulate the 37 students of Warwick & Leamington TKD who recently participated in the T-UK regional grading under the guidance of Master Archer from Taekwon do-UK. Your dedication, perseverance, and commitment to the art of Taekwondo and to the club are excellent, and we are immensely proud of your achievement.
First and foremost, we would like to commend the three students who achieved an outstanding A pass in their grading, Elsa Clegg, Charlotte Jackson and Alison Miller. This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to their unwavering focus, discipline, and hard work to achieve excellence at their grade.
