What an incredible achievement for Warwick & Leamington Taekwon-do, as our students delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 T-UK British Championships, securing 1st place overall in the school rankings!

With 36 competitors representing the club, WLTKD returned home with an exceptional medal tally:

🥇 16 Gold Medals
🥈 16 Silver Medals
🥉 6 Bronze Medals

🏆 38 Medals and 1st Place Overall!

An extraordinary result, and one that reflects far more than simply success on the competition mats.

The Achievement Behind the Medals

Whilst the medal tally is something we're immensely proud of, the real achievement goes much deeper. For many of our students, the British Championships represented the culmination of months of preparation, additional training, hard work and determination.

For some, it was another opportunity to test their technical ability and competitive skills against experienced opponents. For others, it was their first experience of competition, requiring them to overcome nerves, uncertainty and the very real challenge of stepping outside their comfort zone. Throughout the championships, we witnessed students raising their standards, demonstrating technical improvement, developing confidence and performing beyond what they might previously have believed possible.

There were outstanding individual performances, but equally important were the examples of resilience, sportsmanship and determination shown by those who faced disappointment, learned from their experiences and continued to give their very best.

Because the true value of competition isn't simply measured in medals, but in the growth and development that comes from preparing for, facing and overcoming challenges.

These are lessons that extend well beyond Taekwon-do and into everyday life.

Excellence Is Built Through Preparation

Success at this level doesn't happen by accident. It is the result of consistent training, technical discipline, attention to detail and a willingness to continually improve.

At WLTKD, we place considerable emphasis on developing strong technical foundations, maintaining high standards and ensuring that students understand not just how to perform a technique, but why they are performing it. Competition provides an opportunity to put that training into practice under pressure, where preparation, concentration, adaptability and self-belief are all tested.

The results achieved at the British Championships are a reflection of that approach and of the commitment demonstrated by students who have embraced the challenges placed before them. However, those standards are not reserved for competitors. They are fundamental to our approach to teaching Taekwon-do at every level, from beginners taking their first steps through to experienced black belts.

Our philosophy is simple: excellence is not an occasional achievement, but something we strive towards through consistent effort, discipline and attention to detail.

An Exceptional Team Behind the Success

Behind every successful competitor is a network of people who contribute to their development. Our dedicated instructor team invests an enormous amount of time, energy and experience into helping students improve, providing technical guidance, encouragement, mentoring and support throughout their training.

Special recognition must go to Mr Sebastien Perrier and Mrs Singleton-Tasker, whose commitment and coaching throughout the championships ensured our competitors received excellent support, guidance and encouragement when it mattered most.

We must also recognise our black belts who gave their time to officiate at the championships, including those who balanced their responsibilities as officials with competing themselves. Their willingness to contribute reflects an important part of the culture at WLTKD: the understanding that being a martial artist involves not only personal achievement, but also supporting the development and success of others.

The encouragement provided by fellow students, families and supporters also played an invaluable role. It is this collective commitment that makes our club what it is.

More Than a Club – A Community

One of the most rewarding aspects of the championships was witnessing the genuine camaraderie and support between our students. Regardless of age, grade or experience, competitors encouraged one another, celebrated each other's successes and offered support when things didn't go quite to plan.

This sense of community is something we work hard to develop at Warwick & Leamington Taekwon-do. We believe that a successful martial arts club should be measured not only by the standard of its technical instruction or the medals it wins, but also by the character, confidence and values it helps develop in its members.

Discipline, respect, resilience, humility and perseverance are not simply words associated with martial arts. They are qualities we seek to develop through everything we do.

We train hard, maintain high standards, challenge ourselves and, importantly, support one another throughout the journey.

Saturday's championships were a wonderful demonstration of those values in action.

A Proud Moment for Warwick & Leamington Taekwon-do

To finish as the overall winning club at the British Championships is an achievement of which we are enormously proud. It represents the dedication of our competitors, the commitment of our instructor team and the collective effort of everyone involved in the club.

But perhaps the greatest satisfaction comes from seeing the progress our students have made, not simply as competitors, but as individuals. The confidence gained, the challenges overcome, the friendships strengthened and the lessons learned are achievements that will remain long after the medals have been put away.

To every student who represented WLTKD, whether you returned with a medal or simply the satisfaction of having challenged yourself, you have contributed to something very special.

We went to the British Championships as a team, and we returned as British Championship winners.

An outstanding achievement, an exceptional group of people and a very proud moment in the continuing story of Warwick & Leamington Taekwon-do.

Congratulations to everyone involved! 🏆🥋
